Finance Director

The City of Walterboro is seeking a Director of Finance and Administration. Position reports to the City Manager and is responsible for administration of the Finance, Utility Billing, and Judicial departments. Position will require extensive knowledge of the principals and practices of public finance and governmental accounting. Duties include supervising the financial activities of the City; preparation of annual budget; grant administration; audit preparation; oversight of the City’s human resources management function; oversight of clerk of court activities; oversight of water, sewer, and garbage collection billing activities and, performing various projects for the City Manager. Desirable education and experience: graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration and three years responsible accounting experience and three years management experience, governmental accounting a plus. Salary Range: $51,316 - $83,588

Utilities Maintenance Foreman

The City of Walterboro has an opening for a Utilities Maintenance Foreman in the Wastewater Department. The candidate will be responsible for various activities pertaining to the maintenance and repair of sewer treatment plant and related equipment including sewer pump stations. Applicant must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training with 1-2 years of experience in wastewater treatment and maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Supervisory experience is preferred. Applicant must have a valid SC Commercial Drivers license or the ability to obtain within six (6) months and a level "B" Biological Wastewater Operator License. Minimum salary is $13.90 per hour.

Public Safety Officer

The City of Walterboro has an opening for a Public Safety Officer. The successful candidate will be under close supervision to exercise responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. Exercises independent judgement in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations. The public safety officer will work under stressful and high risk conditions. Patrols the City of Walterboro on assignment for the purpose of observing the area for criminal activity, conditions that may endanger public safety, investigates complaints, enforces laws and maintains high visibility. Must be able to maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms, and evasive action/driving skills. Must have a valid S. C. Driver’s License.
